Vancouver seems to be on the verge of having its very own Hello Kitty Cafe, and it’s the first of its kind in Canada.
A former bubble tea shop space at 1274 Robson St is in the process of being transformed into an ultra-pink and kawaii Hello Kitty Cafe, captured by local food and lifestyle publication Noms Magazine, which also shared a TikTok of them looking at the store-in-progress.
Until now, Sanrio has been tight-lipped about a Vancouver franchise for the cafe that belongs to its most popular character. (Instagram accounts about a Vancouver café seem to be created by fans.) You can find the official Hello Kitty Cafe (for the US at least) on Instagram @hellokittycafe; it doesn’t mention Vancouver at all.
We know that Sanrio’s Hello Kitty Café now has three iterations in the US with two in Vegas and one in Southern California. They also operate Hello Kitty Cafe trucks that pop up in various locations in the United States, with upcoming stops in Atlanta, Denver, and Seattle, among others. In North America, there is also a Hello Kitty Cafe in Mexico City.
The original US Hello Kitty Cafe in Irvine, Calif. serves a menu with a “supercute selection of cookies, cakes, seasonal items and handcrafted hot and iced beverages.”
A Google listing for the Vancouver Hello Kitty Cafe indicates a planned opening of July 29.
